Fictional or not, this is the best portrayal of life in the Old West available! If you read Ike Fudge or Teddy Roosevelt, you find the same ring of authenticity.
Good to pass some time
This has been one of the most instresting books that I have recently read.I plan to make this part of my permanate library.I will certainly look for more of this authors books.This author has either done alot of research into his characters and stories or he actually was involved someway in the incidents.
It ain't just about cattle brands. It's what it says it is cowboy and other Western stories told by various men sitting mainly around a campfire on the trail. The most authentic cowboy and cattle tales I've ever read. And Adams is an excellent story-teller. If you're interested in the real thing, give Adams a try.
I've read another Andy Adams book not long ago. I got a sense of a cattle drive from someone who had been there. Authentic language and somewhat not PC. It was a great book, I would recommend it to any western buff!
Good read for western lovers. The variety of tales makes for interesting reading and something I enjoyed. No Criticism from me and I would recommend it to those with similar tastes in reading.
The book was written, I supose, the same way the stories were told around a campfire back in the early open range days. It was more of a history lesson than a story with a begining, a clmax, and an end.
It was not one one that I would put at the top of my best read books list, but it was good enough that I can talk to my sister in law, who is deeply involved in story telling, about the book and the content.
